Clearly, the standard for the Victorian VB was variable. This is chiefly because the dogs were bred principally for their function and so conformation to type was secondary.

Males:    17 - 19 inches & 70 - 75 lbs.
Females: 16 - 18 inches & 55 - 65 lbs.
In fact many of the dogs are lighter- when lean.

From the above it is clear that as with the Victorian VB, the standard of the Modern VB is variable.
